June 18, 2015 American Ethanol 200 - Iowa Speedway Race Preview

The Debut Part 2: Austin Theriault (@AustinTheriault) will be making his first start at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series this weekend in the American Ethanol 200. Theriault made his first NASCAR Xfinity Series start at Iowa Speedway in May 2014 at the .875-mile speedway with a respectable lead lap finish (15th place).

Austin Theriault Notes

Collected a 10th place finish at Gateway (Madison, Ill.) Motorsports Park, his third top 10 in four starts this season

Best finish is fourth in season opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway

Best starting position is fourth - also at Daytona

The No. 29 team has one win and three top 10 finishes in the last four NCWTS races at Iowa (average finish 9.75)

Austin Theriault - No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150: "I'm excited to head to Iowa in the Cooper Standard Ford F-150 because I grew up short track racing and I've been there before in the Xfinity Series. Getting across the bumps between Turns 1 and 2 is critical and I suppose that will be worse this year. I noticed last year that some guys sacrificed a little bit on corner entry to really get in the throttle quick and hard to carry their speed down the straightaway because you can gain a lot of time."

Chad Kendrick - Crew Chief, No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150: "Entry into Turn 1 with the Cooper Standard Ford F-150 at Iowa is really critical. You've got to be just free enough where the driver can put some wheel in it but still make it through the center of the corner. If you're too free on entry the driver won't get through the center because he can't turn the wheel but if you're too tight on entry you'll be way too tight in the center. You have to be right on the edge."
